Court Appointed Counsel

Criminal cases (Delinquency):

If you wish for your child to be represented by counsel but cannot afford to hire an attorney, please contact the Forsyth County Indigent Defense Office at 678-513-5959 for qualification information. All delinquency appointments go through Indigent Defense.

Civil cases (Dependency, Private Dependency, Permanent Guardianship, Vacate Permanent Guardianship, Termination of Parental Rights, Legitimation, Transfer cases from Probate and Superior Court):

The Court offers financial assistance for Court Appointed Counsel for qualified applicants. To qualify for assistance, you must complete the Request for Financial Assistance Packet IN FULL, and return to the Court Manager. Qualification is determined based on the federal poverty lines. However, if you do not qualify, you can ask to appeal the decision, and the Judge may grant the assistance despite your income or issue an order of repayment.
