The Forsyth County Superior Court held its first ever graduation for the Parental Accountability Court (PAC) on Friday, March 19, 2021.
The program celebrated two participants who successfully completed the program by meeting their child support obligations and achieving goals that were set to help participants improve their economic and social well-being.
Judge Christopher W. Willis, the Parental Accountability Court Presiding Judge, began the ceremony by sharing a few words about the program and welcoming guests and participants. Melissa Melton, DHS Region 5 Manager also attended and gave the address on behalf of the Georgia Department of Human Services. Next, Judge Willis and PAC Coordinator Sabrina Davis presented the graduates with Certificates of Completion.
The Forsyth County PAC program began taking participants in July 2019. It is a partnership between the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit and the Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Child Support Services. The program seeks to address underlying issues that make it difficult for non-custodial parents to pay child support while providing the judges with an alternative to incarceration in civil contempt cases.
